About the Artist
Visual artist and metamodernist working across oil painting, sculpture, installation, illustration, and tattooing.
Anastasiia Romanova is a visual artist working within metamodernism, combining sincerity and irony. Her practice explores vulnerability, awkwardness, everyday magic, and absurdity. Born in 1991 in Chelyabinsk, Russia, she is now based between Prague, Czech Republic, and Bratislava, Slovakia.
She works primarily with oil painting, sculpture, and installation, while illustration and tattooing extend her visual language. Romanova studied graphic design at the South Ural Pedagogical Institute and completed the illustration program at Sofya Miroyedova's School in Saint Petersburg. Since 2019 she has worked as an independent visual artist in Prague and Bratislava.
