The painting is a recursive composition in which art reflects the endless cycle of life and interaction between species. In the foreground, the fish, the usual consumers of worms, contemplate the worm, a common prey in the fish world, but here the worm is hidden behind the apple, the worm's own food, creating a chain within the canvas. This chain extends to us as viewers too: we consume fish and observe the painting along with the one who observes it, entering an endless loop of observation and consumption. The work invites reflection on a cycle where each level is both spectator and participant, bound in infinite recursion and interdependence.
